Today I will be discussing how cyber security relates to majors throughout Old Dominion University. Computer engineering, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, and Information technology are the 4 majors I picked to relate to cyber security. I will explain how each major is affected within cyber security and the similarities. Computer engineers is involved in the principles of hardware,software, threading,and virtual memory. Creating efficient solutions to computer problems,applying designs and testing software. Also, probability and statistics are a key learning that you have to understand thoroughly. Cyber security and computer engineers require detail oriented, analytical, and must practice constantly so the work becomes second nature.Both computer science and cyber security require knowledge on networks,technology, soft wares, vocabulary , and cloud computing. Computer science focuses on the programs,theories, and applications which uses cyber security to protect it from being corrupted or hacked. Without cyber security in computer science you data could be stolen or even altered. Criminal justice relates to cyber security because, they are both in place to protect something or someone’s information. Without criminal justice our world would have no control. Everyone would be able to do anything they want without consequences and in a world where there isn’t any guidelines is a dangerous one.Threats, viruses, terrorists, criminals all require you to act against the correct way of handling situations and if you don’t then there are consequences.  Like cyber security it helps when someone is trying to hack or breach your system it’s like a police officer stopping someone from speeding. Information technology is commonly looked at as ensuring computer hardware, software, and other functions remain functional. That is when the cyber security monitors and protects the data. Information technology also, is responsible for new technology, controls in place, stays relevant and up to date, and has a fix it mentality. Cyber security will continue to improve and develop new and faster ways to keep your information safe.
