Increase In Opportunity for Workplace Deviance

As more data, whether classified or not, is stored on technology by an organization, there is more of an incentive for people to do something they know they shouldn’t do. It also becomes easier to possibly sabotage the data if they have the technical skills to access the information they shouldn’t. Technology can also become susceptible to mistakes in which someone may have access to information and data they shouldn’t and could lead to workplace deviance. The possibility to have access to the data from anywhere makes it much easier to be able to do things you shouldn’t as people think there is less of a chance of getting caught. Those are the biggest incentives to commit workplace deviance and as cyber technology advances the simplicity and accessibility to do it grows.
