Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand and control your emotions. I use my emotional intelligence when I keep myself from acting on certain emotions. I don’t let my emotions get the best of me because I always consider the consequence. It’s not worth it because strong emotions like anger and sadness can cause people to do things they wouldn’t do. I’ve shown strong self regulation by not letting the score effect my performance during a basketball game. I use breathing exercises to help with regulating my emotions, as well as blood pressure, when having a bad experience. It is important to have a strong EQ to keep you from possibly doing things that can negatively impact you. Each person has the power to control their emotion and not let anything on the outside change it.
