There are many benefits in the outline of the Old Dominion University Social Psychology course. Since I am planning to become a Physical Therapist, it is important to understand how my patients will think and process situations. It is necessary to be able to read people, and understand their perception of things, based on observations and psychological reasoning. Developing a positive professional relationship with my patients, is crucial in keeping them comfortable and more engaged. It will help me insure that they have the best experience under my care and in my clinic. I hope to gain a lot of knowledge in this course by learning how to understand my patients, and work properly around their circumstances. I will be able to provide them with the professional care that is best fit for the individual. There are multiple strategies that I intend to use to ensure I gain the most out of this course. I am planning to receive every useful information and visualize how it can be seen or used as a PT in a clinical setting. This will help me use the information in the near future and make it much easier for me to study, understand, and memorize what is expected from me as a student.

Availability Heuristic:

This image seemed very relatable to me because the availability heuristic was something I dealt with as a kid when making decisions based off of something I’ve never experienced first hand. This image shows someone watching a shark attack on their television. He then goes to the beach and decides not to go into the water because he is imagining sharks infesting the waters. He made a decision based off of his fear of being attacked by a shark. This fear was derived off of an experience of someone else that he witnessed on TV. This made him aware of the outcome and now believes that it can possibly happen to him.
