ATA1: Heuristics in Daily Use

My first assignment was on heuristics and their prevalence in everyday life. I have never known what a heuristic is until I took this course in social psychology. In a previous ethics course I took they mentioned heuristics but never really explained in detail what it is. When I learned to understand it’s meaning and all the different ways it’s used, I noticed how much I actually use it when it comes to making a judgment. It really surprised me that I use all the different tilts without noticing. I now understand all the different decision making strategies and understand when it can be used in my favor and against my favor. I have encountered multiple anchoring and adjustment situations with employers, now I am capable of gaining from it. This assignment provided me with knowledge that is used through basic encounters of life.

This image expresses all the multiple anchoring and adjustment moments i’ve experienced. In the end, the employer and employee settle at a price the satisfies both parties and is not far from the anchor price.
