Artifact 1:

This was my favorite activity due to how much you learn about yourself. It helped understand what traits I use the most. Funny, calm, relaxed, understanding, and sensitive are the traits that some consider to represent my personality. It was good to put these traits to the test and see if they truly define me. I was surprised to see that each trait had its own day where it was the most prevalent. This made me realize that my personality is not just funny but a lot of other characteristics. This shows how every personality is unique.

Artifact 2:

This questionnaire really reflects what I learned this course. This activity is meant for me to understand what words represent aggression. I noticed that a lot of these statements may be considered aggressive but the word used made me realize that not every action is necessarily done out of anger. I don’t know what is on the mind of these subjects, so when a girl “kicks” the wastebasket it doesn’t mean she did it due to anger. To me “viciously” and “attacks” indicated the most aggression. It was interesting to see the different scenarios and vocabulary, but also how my perception of aggression changed.

Artifact 3:

This activity sheds light on the dating world of society. Certain characteristics are desired by people who are seeking a significant other. It becomes the norm of each gender to desire a certain type of partner. Women look for someone with a good career, funny, and romantic. Men look for women with a certain hair color, a certain body type, and a beautiful face. It seems that women look for something that is long-term and serious. The activity showed me that men seek characteristics that can change. With age, physical characteristics change, but women seek personality traits that can last a lifetime. This may be due to men’s focus on sexuality and women’s focus on starting a family with the right person.

Artifact 4:

The activity was very interesting because it sheds light on stereotypes. I noticed that I tied some racial groups to a certain characteristics based on my personal experiences. It was challenging for me because I didn’t personally know anyone from certain groups. It is then I used certain stereotypes or achievements known for that certain group. I compared my results with surveys from the 30’s and 50’s and saw a lot of change. I believe that the characteristics change depending on what the country is known for associated with at the time. This activity also gives the idea why certain stereotypes isn’t considered racist but a compliment. Negative stereotypes is what should be taken as racism.

Artifact 5:

This activity is very interesting because it compares two traits to see if they are related or cause one another. By listing out wether a person is happy or selfish gives an ideas that happiness effects selfishness. Most of the people I tallied up were happy and selfish. I’m not sure if this activity is reliable because I can never truly know is someone is really happy or not. This activity made me believe that happiness has no effect on wether or not someone is selfish. There are many people that are unhappy and still unselfish. This activity did personally effect me by describing the different types of characteristics seen from people I know.
