CYSE 100: Fall 2022

Resume:

Cybersecurity Career Connections

I enjoyed the Cybersecurity Career Connections event. I enjoyed learning more about what kind of jobs there are in cybersecurity. I got the chance to stop by and talk to Peregrine, JLGOV, and the U.S. Department of Justice. Peregrine simply told me information that I will need in the future about certifications and skills that I will need to gain to obtain a job in cybersecurity. When I stopped by JLGOV, they gave me plenty of information on careers and I also got the chance to tell them about myself. I gave them my resume and we took a picture for a highlight on their social media page. The company that stood out to me most was the FBI. I have always wanted to be an Intelligence Analyst, and talking to them made me even more confident that that is what I want to do in the future. I talked to them more about internships and I hope to secure one for the summer of 2024. Their interns just watch everything that they do, and they get to live in Washington, DC.

Cybersecurity Everywhere Presentation:

Company Name: ExxonMobil

Company Industry: Fuels, lubricants, and chemicals

Company Main Product/Service: Gas

Company Primary Customers: Anyone who drives an automobile

Why Does This Company need Cybersecurity?:

To ensure that each station has enough gas, and the prices are affordable by each party. If there is no protection, gas lines can get hacked to stop gas production and alter things like temperature, volume, etc.

The most common scam is called skimming, when criminals alter a gas pump so that your credit card is read by their device, not the gas stations. This device skims, or captures, your credit card information, which is quickly used to make fraudulent charges.
