First, after I study about cybersecurity and biology articles that point out DNA and the risk can affect digital things and people’s privacy. It looks hard to happen that bad people will use DNA to compromise the system, but it is also possible to do it from the DNA transcription process that changes DNA to binary data and digitization that put the data in the computer so if hackers have synthesized DNA that contains the malware it is possible for them to compromise system of the devices that convert DNA to binary data. Moreover, DNA is the ultimate PII (personally identifying information) that is important to everyone and has some organizations keep our DNA data in digital form. It can make high value to hackers if they can get it to do something so I believe this vulnerability will be the one way in the future that hackers are more used to make some their purpose.

Like the article said that we cannot stop the innovation and bad people from using it however we can mitigate it. First for the situation that bad people want to compromise the devices by synthesizing DNA, If I need to do something to mitigate it I will focus on physical security that checks and monitors every process (not receive DNA from transportation) before the DNA is put in Sequencer machine because it mitigates the chance that hacker can give bad DNA to the lab and if we don’t put the DNA that contains the malware to the devices everything remains safe. For the situation that hacker wants to get DNA data from the organization, I will mitigate it by giving the highest priority to this data for protecting it (firewall, network access control, etc.) and keep it for necessary or not keep it at all moreover strict with physical security and has a recovery plan when something happens because it is a data that permanent involve with the people throughout their life that will make critical damage to them and organization if it spread in the public from the hacker. So, this plan uses everything to doesn’t let the hacker get DNA data is the proper way to do that can decrease the chance that hacker to get data.
