The experience left me wondering about the impact that media has on creating our perceptions and understanding of cybersecurity. As the video expertly dissected various hacking scenes from movies and TV shows, it became apparent that there exists a substantial gap between the portrayal of hacking in fiction and its reality. Though they provide great entertainment, excessive presentations of hackers breaking into highly protected systems and changing advanced coding usually from the difficult process of cybersecurity in the real world. In conclusion, my thoughts on the video highlight the importance of viewing media portrayals of cybersecurity with a critical and perceptive eye. Even though these depictions may sometimes be entertaining, the role is often overly simplified and misused. As consumers, it is our responsibility to view these TV shows and movies with an appropriate amount of suspicion in order to obtain a better understanding of the real-world uses of cybersecurity and its related duties.
