While reading La prohibición silenciosa I learned some new vocabulary and how to argue more effectively in Spanish. I was had to focus on using different words rather than what I was used to saying. In the reading, I had to focus on saying the word “móvil” rather than saying “celular”. I learned the word “lidiar” from the phrase “Ningún menor de 12 años debería tener móvil con acceso a Internet; no están preparados para lidiar con ello”. I learned that journalist was trying to say “they are not prepared to deal with it.” I had some trouble with figuring out if there were two sides to the argument or if not. I had to reread the article to know that were two sides to the argument. The two sides of the argument were to prohibit use of cellphones or allow for the usage of cellphones.
