How Has Cyber Technology Created Opportunities For Workplace deviance

With the expansive growth of the use of cyber technology in the workplace it has led to an increase in productivity unlike anything the previous generations have ever seen. Unfortunately, with this large amount of growth there are caveats to this. One of the larger concerns with the mass implementation with cyber technology is a increase in workplace deviance. Workplace deviance is defined as a deliberate desire to cause harm to the workplace. There are many different types of deviance that can be found in the workplace without any cyber technologies such as sexual harassment or using intimidation and threat tactics. However, in cyber technology there are many different types of workplace deviance. For example, an employee could be using the company’s internet for non-work activities, or the employee could be collecting sensitive data and be selling it to malicious partners. Another example of this could be an employee being angry at the company for being laid off, so in retaliation the employee finds remote access to their workplace information system and deletes or steals sensitive information from the company. With the implementation of cyber technology, possible workplace deviance can get much more severe than physical workplace deviance. Companies need to remain vigilant for any signs of workplace deviance over the cyber world and make sure that their company or organization gets attacked by an insider.
