What are the costs and benefits of developing a cybersecurity program into a business?

Establishing proficient security measures is an extremely important part of a business that cannot go overlooked in this day of sophisticated cyber-attack methods. However, establishing a proper cybersecurity program into your existing business is rather time consuming and can cost the company lots of money. The first step would be to find out what kind of security your business needs in order to stay protected and secure. The next step would be to research and contact a cyber security company contractor once you have chosen the appropriate contractor for your business. Next would be to implement and to teach the current and new employees about how to not only use the new system but how to remain secure while working on the internet. The teaching process is the longest step as the new employees need to adapt to become used to the new practices that were implemented. Once that step is finished the company must make sure to be on the latest cybersecurity update profile to insure the most up to date protection available. With the implementation of a new cybersecurity program your company can net more trust from customers seeing as how their possible sensitive information is protected and valued. For example, if you ran a small checking firm if you made sure that your customers highly sensitive banking, address, and personal contact information is secured through your cybersecurity program your customers may want to come back seeing as how their data is safe. Along with this I believe that implementing a cybersecurity program to any business will always break even compared to never implementing a program. An example of this could be a company skipped on a cybersecurity program because would cost the company 13,000 dollars a month to implement. Next month the company gets attacked by ransomware and the company is forced to pay one million dollars. Implementing the cybersecurity program last month would have saved the company 987,000 dollars that they could have used to pay for the cybersecurity program. I believe that implementing a cybersecurity program to any business is always a smart move no matter the cost and will always end up benefiting the company in some way in the future.
