E-Portfolio Process

Constructing this e-portfolio was a great experience and opportunity to showcase my learning and project over the course of my MPH studies. It is also a way to record, store, and archive my professional projects.

CEPH Competency #2 – Evaluate risks posed by environmental health hazards using risk assessment methods.

  • This competency was achieved through the Lead Assignment completed during Dr. Becker’s Environmental Health Course. We met this goal through evaluating lead sources and the significant hazards associated with prolonged lead exposure.
  • This significantly impacted my learning because environmental health hazards are unfortunately inevitable no matter how many measures are in place to protect us from them. By having the proper knowledge on risk assessment methods as a practitioner, I can educate others on how to manage risks posed by such environmental hazards.

Health Behavior & Health Promotion Competency #1. Plan a health communication project that address the needs of the priority population.

Learning Outcome B – understand how to craft a solid health communication strategy by evaluating the priority populations core values, crafting a positioning, and selecting effective framing and branding.

  • This competency was achieved through the social marketing worksheet completed in Dr. Sklo-Coxe’s Health Communication and Social Marketing course. We met this goal by analyzing a target audience and its competition for teenage drug abuse and abstinence. We also came up with different communication strategies for this scenario and discuss alternative behaviors.
  • This activity showed me how all these different components should be analyzed in order to form a successful communication strategy. Also, I like how this worksheet can be utilized for future public health problems and objectives to dissect the audience and their competition.
