Since I was a younger kid, I have always been interested in technology. Growing up my grandma always needed her smartphone and somehow I could always help , and that always seemed to amaze my family because I was so young . Ever since then I have always had a huge love for technology. As I grew up I started learning more about scammers and hackers and I always asked how they could be stopped. Well many years later my older brother went off to college and majored in cybersecurity, I had no clue what it was until he explained it to me (he also attended Old Dominion University). Once he took the time and explained it to me I was very interested in it and wanted to learn more . Once learning more from my big brother I automatically knew I wanted to go to school to major in cybersecurity. However I am an entrepreneur, so my business had totally taken my mind off of cybersecurity completely. Arriving here at Old Dominion my head was so wrapped up in business that originally I came here and majored in business. As I took the classes for business and researched business opportunities I got very discouraged . After plenty of debating I finally changed my major to cybersecurity , which is what I originally wanted to do . Since changing my major I have been so happy about completing my classes to get into the major . As I continue to learn more about cybersecurity I want to be able to protect companies information and even one day my very own company . In this day and age technology is completely taking over so I will have the opportunity to continue learning within my career. Another major reason I am overly interested in cybersecurity because while working I will have a sense of purpose . It will make me feel so good while I am protecting and helping companies feel safe within their technology environment.
