Over the semester all of the ‘Items to archive’ that we have had, have been very interesting and I have enjoyed greatly how involved many of them were. With having done these assignments there have been a few that stood out to me and engaged me more than others. In order from 5 -1 with 5 being my lower ranting of favorite to 1 being my most favorite have been:

5.) Stereotypes: Module 8 ‘Items to archive’. This assignment was very interesting to me to see how stereotypes in even other parts of the world have existed for years and even some of them have stayed the same. This was fascinating to read about and even “guess” what I thought they were and compare to what the most recent ones are for other places that I never thought to consider. I learned a lot about the stereotypes of other races that I was not aware of and with having learned about these I looked into how exactly each race was compared to each stereotype.

The image that I have attached to this item was a word cloud that is filled with adjectives that I consider to be a part of the race that I tend to relate to more than others. I found this as well as fun aspect to add into the assignment because I was as well able to put my opinions out there for my race.

4.) The fourth assignment that I found to be interesting throughout this course was the Norm violation from module 10. This assignment caught my attention more because it was such an uncomfortable assignment to complete. I learned a lot about how social norms exist and often times most do not even consider them because they have such been taught to us from such a young age. So, having done this assignment I was able to learn more about some of the social norms that their are by paying more attention to them and even performing some myself. Such as the social norm of providing people with space when in line.

This visual image was on myself violating the social norm of standing too close to someone in a line. It was interesting to see how others reactions to me doing this were. Often times the person would look back over their shoulder or move forward a bit. Although, I often times felt uncomfortable doing this it was very interesting to see how a majority of the reactions were similar.

3.) The third was the attitude survey from module 7. This assignment was interesting because of the way that I had to answer the questions on how I personally feel or do in a situation compared to how I felt people should. This was interesting to compare and actually think about why it is that my answers may differ between how I feel one should react and how I do.

I chose this image for this ‘item to archive’ because of the way that it discusses balances in life. Within this assignment it required talking about the balance between behaviors and attitudes. Which I feel it is important to let go of how we feel at first and look at a behavior and reason for that behavior, then move forward. This sometimes does require letting go of our beliefs somewhat in order to open room for the reality thus creating a balance.

2.) The module 3 item of similarity leads to attraction was my second favorite because it was extremely interesting to get others opinions for starters on what they think about this. It as well was interesting because I put thought into how I may have related or not to others in the past and it was interesting for me to even consider how in many of my previous relationships it was more so similarity leads to attraction. This assignment as well caught my attention and interested me so much because of the way that some people even thought that both similarity and differences are better for relationships and attraction.

This was the visual that I included for this assignment, this image is a tally and some examples of what the different people I spoke with said in regards to the assignment question.

1.) My favorite ‘item to archive’ that I did throughout this course was the SWF seeking from module 9. This was an extremely interesting assignment to me because for starters people often times said very interesting and specific things that they were looking for in a partner on these sites. In addition to that, it was interesting to see how what was said about men are often looking for attractive, younger women and women often looked for older stable men. It was very fascinating to see that many of the people on the site I look at were typically looking for women that were closer in age range to them. Although some had a few year difference younger and higher they still were looking for someone that was closer, many did not deviate far from their age. While women did want someone more secure, most did not even mention an age that they were looking for specifically. It was just a very interesting assignment to do and see how men and women compare and contrast in what they are looking for in a partner.

The image that I included as my visual is an image of the information that I found for both men and women on this dating app and the comments that I found within their post as far as what they are looking for.
