My major at ODU is Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology with a focus on Speech Path. I choose this major because of an amazing teacher. When I was a freshman in high school, I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. I knew that I still had time but it was a question that I just couldn’t answer yet. One of the classes I ended up taking that year was American Sign Language. I fell in love. After just a few short classes I knew that ASL was something I wanted to continue to pursue and the Deaf community was one I wanted to be a part of. With the help of my teacher, I was introduced to Speech Pathology. After a little research, I was hooked and knew that this is what I wanted to do. Some of the experience I have in the field is an internship with Accessible Community. They help businesses with making their websites more accessible. I am currently a part of SCEC and NSSLHA here at ODU. I plan on continuing my experience while at ODU.
