End of Term Reflection

In this course this semester I learned about the different ways our bodies acquire immunity. More specifically, active versus passive immunity as well as natural versus artificial immunity. I have always understood on a simpler level how vaccines provide immunity, but this class provided a more in-depth breakdown on the inner workings of our immune system on a cellular level. Although my field of interest is not directly immunology or biology related, working with children comes with frequent exposure to pathogens. I also, frequently have to explain the importance of hygiene and sanitation to my clients and having a better understanding of how the immune system responds provides me the insight to target hygiene related goals. This class also greatly challenged and humbled me within my college career. After taking this course, I am thinking more critically about the way I choose to study and process information as well as how I retain information that does not come as easily to me.
