Learning Style

STEP 1: EVALUATE YOUR STUDY HABITS

  1. Describe your current methods of study. How do you study for each class?
    1. What specific techniques do you use in class?

I tend to reread the material I am giving and pull important details from those materials and write those important details in the book in which I keep my other notes.

  1. What specific techniques do you use outside of class?

I love to highlight and search up more on the things that I do not understand, I also like to refer to a friend who has a better understanding on the subject so they can break it down for me and help me understand. When I do that I also like to take notes on the things they tell me that way when I read the notes again I have a very clear and easy understanding of what I need to know.

  1. Identify one class in which you are doing well (not HLTH 101).   What study methods work best and why?

I am currently doing pretty good in chemistry mostly because since I did not take chemistry in high school I am making sure that when I do not understand something I make sure that I ask questions and get help from my peers. I also make sure to take the notes and watch the videos that my instructor has prepared for us.

STEP 2: IDENTIFY AND APPLY NEW LEARNING TECHNIQUES

  1. Identify one class where you are experiencing challenges and address the following questions.

I am having a hard time in history mostly because it is a lot of reading and I have a difficult time reading and also getting all my work done.

  1. Review at least 5 academic tips/resources listed here: https://www.odu.edu/success/academic/tips What is one new technique you could try in class to help you better understand the material?

I will try to make my notes ahead of time because I actually think that might help because I sometimes have a hard time multitasking. Trying to write the notes and answer the questions and also listen to what others are saying sometimes gets hard especially when it is a very big topic.

  1. What is one new technique you could try outside of class to help you better understand the material?

One of the strategies said to describe what the reading is going to be in a summary and I feel like that would be easier than stopping every couple of mins and taking out key information.
