During the week I try to at least study almost every day, but sometimes that doesn’t happen. When I do study it does seem to help my grades increase, mostly because I am understanding the topic more. I would like to have more time studying for my textbook classes like my history and my sociology class. When I do study, I try my best to do it in my dorm with the music on low and my door to my suitemates room closed so I have no distractions. I am more focused in the afternoon and early evening, so I tend to start studying around that time if I can. One new technique I have been trying to do was writing my notes on the computer. I have done it once, but it seems to work the quickest, but I do not understand the concept the best doing it that way. When studying I tend to understand things better when I double read or when I write my notes by hand, I can do this technique with only short passages and occasionally during class but I cannot do it all the time.
Now that I am almost to the end of the semester, I have found college not exactly what I thought it would be, especially with the workload. The workload is kind of heavy, but it is also manageable. Another thing that surprised me is that it is kind of just like high school, but more doing things on your own. My favorite thing about the campus is the way it is structured. I loved to walk around and look at the different buildings along with going to the beach and look at the water. It is very relaxing. I think I have said this before, but my toughest issue going through college is being away from my family and friends. On the move in the day I had some issues with the internet and connecting my devices, a good resource I found extremely helpful was the ODU website. It helped me to find where I needed to go and be to hook up the Wi-Fi to my devices. My resident assistant jade has been extremely helpful during this semester as well as my friends. They have helped me understand a lot of things through this semester. They helped by explaining the things I did not understand, especially if they had taken a class in high school that I had never taken before. I have attended a nursing panel and I really enjoyed it because it gave me an idea on what it would be like when I actually pursue my career as a nurse
