1. Describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals.

The main four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals go as the following: privacy and confidentiality, security breaches, system implementation, and data inaccuracies. Privacy and confidentiality when handling information data about clients and their personal information must be secured by the company in such a way that only authorized people may access it. Security Breaches must also be considered because they are a constant threat against customer privacy. A good company will promise its customers that sensitive information entrusted to them will be secure from any potential attackers. So, without consent from the customer no person should be able to access their information. System implementation concerns the implications of the records to a secure spot so they won’t be able to get breached. If done incorrectly data could be compromised and exploited putting the customers at risk. Finally there is the data inaccuracies. Following the triad integrity must be upheld to ensure the datas accuracy.

2. Compare cybersecurity risks in the U.S. and another country.

The country I chose to compare to the United States cybersecurity risks is Brazil. According to the ITU’s cybersecurity index the United States ranks #2 world wide whereas Brazil only ranks #70. However, regional wise the United States ranks #1 with Brazil in the #6 spot. Brazil unfortunately ranks #2 as a nation most affected by global ransomware attacks compiling a whopping $20 billion in economic loss due to cyber attacks in 2018. Brazil is working vigorously to alleviate these numbers. Right before the end of his campaign former president of Brazil, Michel Temer, put in place a presidential decree that strengthened the nation’s cybersecurity strategy. The United States however is constantly getting battered by attacks. In 2018 security breaches have gone up by 11% with 4.1 billion records being hacked into and exposed in only the first half of 2019. Cybersecurity is becoming more essential as the world advances into the digital age. As the threats advance new protection methods will have to be developed as well.
