The development of cyber-policy and infrastructure is a very interesting subject. Technology today has become an extremely powerful tool, and infrastructure-based systems can and have become very vulnerable to this fact. This vulnerability is extremely crucial since the systems that are being targeted are basic functions of the everyday world. Water systems, electrical systems, transportation, etc. shape how the world and all of it’s people traverse through everyday life and without them it would essentially deteriorate. To protect and develop these institutions further, actions such as increasing cybersecurity through SCADA systems and failure prevention systems should be crucial. Fail-safes should be in place so that even if they are to shutdown, backups are able to keep everything running smoothly until they can be repaired and secured for the next time. With the ever expanding use of technology, the tools that will become available will always be a threat to these systems, so precautionary measures must be implemented to secure infrastructure-based systems. However, this just means that increasing the focus on these systems and the protection for them should be necessary in the cybersecurity field, since they are essentially a base in a sense. Without many of these infrastructures, cybersecurity would be useless so maintaining the reliability and dependability is key.
