During my time at Old Dominion University (ODU), I had the opportunity to engage in two significant academic research projects, both of which were selected for highly competitive research programs. These projects allowed me to delve into critical topics within my field, from examining disinformation campaigns to analyzing the impact of AI on job security. Through these experiences, I gained valuable research skills, from data analysis to academic writing, and contributed to publications that reflect my dedication to advancing knowledge in these areas. This section of my e-portfolio highlights the research I completed and the insights I gained through these rigorous programs.
Reverse-Engineering of Disinformation Campaigns During the War in Ukraine
This paper, part of the DoD VICEROY research program, examines the spread and impact of disinformation during the Russia-Ukraine conflict, focusing on content from February 2022 through mid-2023. Using data from the EUvsDisinfo project, my research group analyzed over 1,900 articles to classify disinformation themes, target audiences, and primary sources. The study found that security-related narratives were most prevalent, with non-EU/NATO countries and Russian-speaking populations targeted more than Western audiences. The research highlights Russian media’s role in reaching these groups and offers policy recommendations to counteract disinformation. This work underscores the need for strategies to address the complexity of disinformation in modern warfare. This publication was selected for submission in the 19th International Conference on Cyber Warfare and Security and is publicly available for download and review.

As a part of the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative Undergraduate research program, this paper examines the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on job loss across multiple industries, assessing both positive and negative impacts. It provides an overview of AI technology, explores its historical development and increasing adoption in sectors like manufacturing, insurance, and healthcare, and highlights the efficiency gains AI brings to tasks like data analysis and customer service. However, the paper also focuses on AI’s potential to replace human roles, particularly in fields where tasks are routine and easily automated, such as software engineering, media, and transportation. Additionally, the study presents a future outlook on AI’s continued impact on the job market and discusses mitigation strategies to help workers adapt and maintain job security. This comprehensive analysis aims to shed light on the complex relationship between AI advancements and workforce changes.
