  •  Describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals.

There is quite a lengthy list of ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals. Four ethical issues that immediately come to mind are privacy, data security, consent, and control their own data. Two of these issues, privacy, and data security, go hand in hand with each other. The ethical issue with privacy is ensuring that an individual’s personal information is secured, and only authorized personnel can access it. Data security is an ethical issue of an organization standing firm in their obligation to protect the data of an individual from potential cyber threats. Consent has a concern ethically with organizations ensuring that they have the consent of individuals whose personal data they store. However, it’s also the individual’s role to ensure that they read the “fine print” when organizations request if they can store their confidential information. Lastly, the ethical concern with the topic of controllability is organizations allowing individuals to control and make any changes to their own data after that information is already stored.

  • 2. Compare cybersecurity risks in the U.S. and another country.

It is a known fact that countries that deal in the field of information technology must deal with cybersecurity risks that come along with it. Besides the United States, another massive country like China must deal with cybersecurity risks. I can’t go into great detail about the risks in China, but I can give a basic overview of what both countries probably have to deal with in terms of possible risks. One cybersecurity risk that comes to mind between both countries is espionage. Espionage in the field of cybersecurity, also known as cyber spying, is when an attacker from a different country hack into a government system in hopes to access classified information from that country. To say that both of these countries deal with cyberespionage would be an understatement. Also, the security measures that both countries have in place is probably very extensive for that sort of thing.
