In March of 2023 I had the opportunity to grow as a professional by attending the Spring VAASL Regional Conference in Roanoke, Virginia. As a school library candidate it is important that I continue to engage in professional learning throughout my career. I was able to return to my school and share many of the activities and ideas that were presented at the conference. This is a brief synopsis of some of the learning I encountered during the conference including: Keynote speaker and storyteller, Hettie Farley, STEAM integration into the whole school environment, using resources effectively under budget constraints to create a mighty library for all learners, and collaborating creatively as school librarians with teachers to teach research and writing using innovation and meaningful learning activities.
