Technology and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs are related in a number of ways. At the physiological level, applications for grocery delivery and temperature-controlling smart home systems provide for fundamental necessities like food and comfort. Digital technologies such as home security systems, VPNs, and antivirus software safeguard personal information and guarantee physical security in order to meet safety requirements. Social networking sites and messaging applications link people with friends, family, and coworkers across distances, fostering a sense of love and belonging. Regarding esteem needs, technology offers means of showcasing accomplishments and abilities on professional networks such as LinkedIn, which promotes self-esteem and acknowledgment. Last but not least, technology promotes self-actualization by facilitating individual development and creativity with tools like WordPress, coding environments, and design software, which allow people to express themselves and realize their greatest potential. I believe that technology should be used in accordance with each level of Maslow’s hierarchy. Examples of such tools include WordPress for creative endeavors, LinkedIn for professional recognition, and cybersecurity software for safety.
