Artifact Three
For my third top artifact assignment, I chose the item to archive from module thirteen. In this item to archive I had to participate in the prisoner’s dilemma. There was a game to play for this exercise. The game stated that you and your friend are both in prison and you had just been caught doing something and they are asking to talk to you both separately. If you both confess, you each get 5 more years added to your time. If you both stay silent, you both get one more year added. If one of you confesses but the other stays silent, the one who stays silent gets 20 extra years and the one who confessed gets zero more years and you have to leave your friend behind in jail.
This was proven to be quite the predicament, I cannot even imagine how it must be when these are real consequences on the line. It was really difficult to think about what the other person could be saying, and what your answer should be trying to guess what the will say. It would be best if we both stayed silent and only got one year added to our sentence, but how are you going to know if he won’t say that he will be silent just to get to be able to go free while you sit in prison for another 20 years? And if you were to do the same thing to him, I can only imagine just how guilty you would feel and even scared for when this man will get out because he might seek you out. I played a few times and got some answers. I really think the best would be to confess, but that does put your friend in danger, but it is the best option for you. It all comes down to what you think is morally correct, and some would even say that they don’t care what it takes to get them out.

Artifact One
My top artifact is the item to archive from module 5. I learned more about the impression management tools that we use when we meet someone for the first time. I have always been told that first impression are hard to forget so I have always worked hard to set a good first impression for myself, but I do not think that I have ever really thought as hard on the subject than I did for this item to archive. I liked the list that was provided because it gave me specific examples to think hard on what self- and other-enhancements I would have added to help make my first impression a good one.
A self-enhancement is an enhancement done physically to your body, like hygiene and how you dress. These seem like the first things you think of whenever you have any kind of social event pop up: “But what will I wear?” Other-enhancements are things like a smile or how you communicate with your guest, things outside of the physical body. I liked being able to widen my thinking on what I would bring to the table at these different places I would be making a first impression. This activity really broadened my definition of a first impression!
These are the questions that I spoke of above, and these are also my answers to those questions!
