Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Address the reflection exercises in each of the following sections. For each section, you will need to embed portions of these assignments and activities as artifacts to substantiate your reflection. Then, at the end of each section, include a link to the document or embed it as a PDF.
Tutorials are available:
- Embedding a PDF
- Embedding Media (Images, Audio)
- Embedding a Video
An Effective Reflection Is
- Written in English.
- A demonstration, explanation, comparison of skill and growth described through what you learned and the challenges you had in that learning while highlighting your best work.
- A discussion of how you overcame any weakness or obstacles. Explain what you mean.
- Supported by evidence as represented by your artifacts (course materials, photographs, video, conversations, projects, news reports, authentic materials, etc.).
- Specific, addressing particular strengths, weakness, skills, transformative experiences, etc., avoiding vague generalizations (ex: “I learned a lot.”).
An Effective Reflection is not
- Only sharing an artifact without context or discussion.
- Only a description or explanation of an artifact. Focus on your learning and growth as a result of having completed that experience.
- An attempt to justify your work to an instructor. Instead, think more broadly about future audiences that might benefit from seeing evidence of your work and the skills you are developing.
Artifacts
A good artifact is a portion or clip of an assignment. It needs to be carefully selected to provide evidence/proof that supports what you are saying in your reflection.
Your reflection will help you determine what that will be. It is a quest for quality. It will represent you academically and professionally, and have personal meaning. It can be written, audio, or video.
At the end, ask yourself if the artifacts best demonstrates your abilities and growth over time.
At the end of your reflection in each section, link or embed the assignment/artifact. If the assignment has multiple pages and seems to overwhelm the section, consider adding just the first page and offering to provide the rest upon request.

Exploring Culture
Exploring the Spanish culture has helped me see greater lengths beyond just Spanish class. While participating in lingro hub I’ve learned that Spanish speaking countries do some things differently. The Spanish culture has different foods such as tapas, pisto, churros, etc. I’ve learned they have different traditions such as festivals. This helped me learn that they have different values from the us. This helped me view the world from a different perspective because there are a lot of the Spanish culture around the world so its good to be familiar with it. Its also good to explore the culture so that you can interact with different people from different cultures.
Engaging in Communities
Engaging in communities is very helpful to the community. It is important because it helps build a community. You can build trust with your community as well be engaged with different types of people as well as different types of ideas. If people engage more with their communities, their communities will run more smoothly when running into problems. Also, it’s a great experience to get out the house and have some fun.
Interpersonal Communication
Throughout the semester I’ve used Lingro hub audio activities to practice my oral speaking. Through out this seamster I’ve had to practice in class speaking by my instructor interview me. Ive also practiced writing by nomination letters. I’ve read and commented on my classmates discussion boards.
Throughout this semester I’ve grown within each activity because I do gain more knowledge. Throughout this semester I’ve stepped outside of my comfort zone to learn the basics of Spanish. Ive had conversations with Spanish speaking people and I’ve also had to to hold interviews with Spanish speaking people. What was difficult for me was the comprehending of the Spanish speaking language and grasping the words that pop out to me the most be able to understand and respond back to someone . I excelled at conjugating words and next time I will be sure to study harder with flash cards because they help a lot.

Presentational Speaking
This year in Spanish 101 I’ve had to do multiple speaking presentations where I’ve had to record myself speak.ive had to speak during my final interview, as well as two projects.
My favorite project this semester was the one where we had to go on campus and and talk about certain areas and what we do in those areas. I don’t live on campus so I improvised with my apartment complex. I walked around the complex speaking Spanish and explain what it was I did int hose certain areas. it was fun. I learned how to describe things and what I do in different areas while speaking a different language. The challenges I over came in this project was using different vocabulary words because during this unit we used vocabulary words that described the campus and not an apartment complex.

Presentational Writing
during this semester I completed multiple blogs as well as letters. I talked about my community as well as a letter of recommendation. I also did a blog presentation of holding a Spanish speaking conversation. Through these assignments I’ve built my Spanish speaking vocabulary. I also got more comfortable with speaking Spanish. While doing these assignments my Spanish pronunciation became much easier and clearer. I have overcome most of my difficulties by getting more comfortable and actually participating with my peers. My favorite assignment was the letter of recommendation because I had to include things from different units in one letter
Interpretive Listening
This semester most of my interpretive listening activities came from lingro hub. Another interpretive listening activity would be the interview with my professor. One of the things the challenged me was understanding what someone is saying fluently and have to give the correct response. Its easier to do homework through a screen and having to hear certain words than to be face to face with someone and have to speak back instantly. Some difficulties I had was having to figure out the right conjugation to use. While walking around campus I can walk pass people speaking Spanish and have some sort of knowledge as to what they are saying. Lingro hub was a learning experience and it helped me learn how to pronounce words correctly.
Interpretive Reading
some interpretive reading assignments were through lingro hub. This reading assignment has helped a lot with word placement. This website has also helped with reading Spanish and helps me grasp a better understanding of what I’m reading. This assignment has help point out keys words to understand what I’m reading.
