Biosecurity is a study that focuses reducing risks of security vulnerabilities and is a branch of bio risk management. It identifies the measures needed to protect organisms against invasive biological agents and threats. Both articles from this week’s reading discussed the future and risks that may arise in this field of research of biosecurity. Some possible ethical issues are security and confidentiality of course. Security of data control and access. Confidentiality of personal data collected. Some ethical considerations are privacy, accuracy, property, and accessibility. Privacy ensures the rights of an individual to control provided personal information. Accuracy which places responsibility for the authenticity of the data provided to users in the hands of the organization. Property which determines who the owner of said data is and who controls access. Accessibility controls the information an organization has the right to collect from users. This also safeguards against unwarranted incidents from occurring. All of these are components to a safe and organized system. It ensures that users are safe and have a sense of protection when it comes to providing sacred personal information. Everyone has the right to privacy, confidentiality, accuracy of data and accessibility.
