Chief Information Security Officer
A chief information security officer is a senior level executive in a company responsible for establishing and maintaining the information security strategy. They are also in charge of managing threats both internal and external and creating plans to anticipate new threats.
If I Was CISO
If I earned the role as CISO in an organization and was tasked with allocating limited funds for tradeoff of training and additional cyber technology I would invest more into tradeoff of training. Tradeoff of training is the continuing of learning in your career. This is very important in the Cybersecurity industry especially because it is always advancing and there are new things to learn everyday. A lot of workers in the Cybersecurity industry tend to learn the minimal amount needed for them to do their job. If I were Chief Information Security Officer I would allocate 75% of the limited funds given to me for tradeoff of training. I believe that it would be very beneficial for my organization. Not only would my employees be more educated, it “helps to keep your organization, data, and customers safe” (Wilson). Although the tradeoff of training is very important in the Cybersecurity industry, that does not take away from the fact that new technology in the Cybersecurity industry is almost as important. As technology advances everyday in today’s world so do threats. The reason I would leave a quarter of the limited budget given to me for new technology is because of its major part in Cybersecurity. New technology “allows cybersecurity professionals to detect and analyze threats from a higher, automated level” (Simmons). There will always be threats to organizations in the Cybersecurity industry and new technology will be needed to anticipate and prevent them. I believe by spending 75% on the tradeoff of training and 25% on new technology will benefit my organization substantially.
