The issue being addressed is the water pollution in China and how it is becoming a serious problem in the Pearl River. The Pearl is relied on for a quick efficient pathway for trades and other foreign events. A significant amount of China’s population is also affected by this pollution as it affects their everyday lives. The solutions to the pollution include removal of the trash and toxins currently there and ensure the water can settle with no problems and keeping trash out of the water.  The water is not suitable for drinking and leaves some people without a reliable source for water. Marine life is effected the most as the fish are in danger by the toxins and trash all over the place in their own home. Are big corporations responsible for the trash or just bad citizens in the area not caring for the water? If people in the area become more responsible and learn to care for the river things will flow smoother not only in the economy as businesses would start flowing again but in the environment and lead to a better earth. Water pollution remote sensing for Pearl River Delta. March 4, 2018.

Muniesa, M.1, mmuniesa@ub.edu, et al. “Bluephage: A Rapid Method for the Detection of Somatic Coliphages Used as Indicators of Fecal Pollution in Water.” Water Research, vol. 128, Jan. 2018, pp. 10-19. EBSCOhost, j.watres.2017.10.030

The issue being addressed is the worldwide problem of fecal pollution in water. Bluephage is a crucial element to solving this pollution problem. Bluephage is designed to detect somatic coli phages in the water and that will reduce the problem of water pollution. From there scientist can determine how serious the spread of the pollution is. Also how much solution will be needed to eliminate the bacteria found in the area? The author hails from the University of Barcelona’s department of Genetics and faculty of Biology, a credible background. The intended audience is one who has some knowledge in water resource management and solving water pollution issues. Basic knowledge can be obtained easily as the topic is not a complicated one. Bluephage: A rapid method for the detection of somatic coliphages used as indicators of fecal pollution in water.

Dudarev, A. A. (2018). Public health practice report: Water supply and sanitation in chukotka and yakutia, russian arctic. International Journal of Circumpolar Health, 77(1), 2018 Dec.

The issue being addressed is how bad location and resources can lead to a significant increase in water pollution.  Lack of centralized sewage and lack of water pretreatment and sewage treatment are serious issues which lead to the problem of serious pollution levels in the area. These problems are similar to those in the Pearl River Delta in China which lead to a serious crisis of pollution in a more populated area. Another problem is the outdated technologies and systems and serious deterioration of facilities and networks. The author is from the northwest public health research center in Russia, a credible location known for hygiene research. Which gives him the authority to discuss this issue and state the facts as such. This will help in my paper as the problems are similar to those in the Pearl River Delta. Public Health Practice Report: water supply and sanitation in Chukotka and Yakutia, Russian Arctic.

Okogbue, C.1, et al. “Assessment of Pollution from Produced Water Discharges in Seawater and Sediments in Offshore, Niger Delta.” Environmental Earth Sciences, vol. 76, no. 10, 15 May 2017, pp. 1-12. EBSCOhost.

The main point being discussed is monitoring water pollution to find and eliminate the root of the problem. Cluster analysis and the index of geoaccumulation were used to determine what exact components were in the water during different seasons. That is important because if we know what exactly is in the water that will make the problem a lot easier to solve. From there we can start to generate solutions to tackle the heart of the problem and eliminate it for good. The author is from the Department of Geology at the University of Nigeria which is a credible place as the issue of water pollution is serious there. The author has that authority because he knows the area and can then determine many solutions and also his knowledge that he gained from the institution as they are trying to determine ways to stop the pollution. Assessment of pollution from produced water discharges in seawater and sediments in offshore, Niger Delta.
