My underlying assumptions for the course were for the most part in-accordance with the results; we were to acknowledge and review everything laid out in the syllabus and so far we have. The genuine topic and aspects of the course was all that I had expected, I anticipated that my own personal outcomes should be greatly improved, which they have.
Throughout the most recent couple of months, I have developed more knowledge than I expected. Something that astonished me was the variety of different wordings utilized in Social Psychology and how similar some of the concepts were yet, very different. Despite the fact that I comprehended the overall ideas and thoughts very well, it appeared I had some trouble with the individual terms which was interesting but I’m glad this was the case so I could essentially look into concepts more in depth to understand. My academic development was not just in the actual class, it was in perceiving the errors I’ve made in not zeroing in enough on specific modules, the subtleties, and through these last couple of sections, endeavoring to address those imperfections.
My thoughts and attitude towards Social Psychology have not changed all through the course, if anything, I’ve come to find it to be quite intriguing as I learn. Social Psychology has been my number one class this semester, and I generally anticipated perusing the following section and contemplating its significance in my everyday life and the experiences of people around me.
I feel in the wake of looking into the course I have a strong understanding on the ideas overall, the subtleties have periodically evaded me and if I somehow happened to take this class once more, I would create terminology quizlets rather than my own flashcards to test myself or look over those terms and definitions much more intently. In addition, I would think all the more fundamentally about them while I explored them; the test questions were requesting that we must take those terms we had learned and effectively apply them to speculative circumstances and situations. I can’t say I’ve had numerous tests that way, and it was certainly a test, yet generally speaking, it was one I enraptured in light of the fact that it made me realize the wording as well as expecting to apply it precisely to speculative situations.
After all that I’ve learned in this course, I can say with total assurance that the abilities and information acquired all through this semester in Social Psychology can be applied to each aspect of my life: from individual, to social connections, and obviously expertly to a certain extent of course. There is one part of Social Psychology that has effectively helped me in my life, and I trust it will keep on adding to future triumphs. From the encounters I’ve faced in life or observed and how it’s developed me into the person I am today, detecting behaviors and feelings of others and how it’s been influenced, and more, is all that will benefit me in my future career professionally and I am looking forward to taking these concepts and applying them when the time comes!

I chose the image above to show my progress as a student in this course and finally being able to reach my goal (the lightbulb is the representation of this) of understanding concepts within social psychology that I will be able to use in my future professional career. With the knowledge I’ve gained from this course, I’m sure the information will stick with me.

Within this course I always looked forward to learning something new each module. It seemed as though each module became more and more intriguing, which I enjoyed. The top three things I learned in this course were ads that reflected cultural standards and what they mean for self concepts, discovering heuristic methods that can impact individuals to settle on judgment in reference to an individual dependent on how well they match attributes of a specific gathering, and investigating how good deeds or gestures caused me to feel. I feel as though we regularly need to consider our own way of life and analyze effects on it. The ads presented to the world that we are dependent upon, without a doubt impact the way we consider our looks, convictions, and so forth. In variety issues we additionally consider generalizations and how they form. I learned in this class that stereotypes or generalizations of groups might be a consequence of our brain endeavoring to make an easy route about choosing who an individual is which thinking back to specific situations and my own observations it was interesting to see how it played a role in my life. Similarly, in my sociology course I took in a past semester, we discussed stereotypes within race, gender and sexual orientation and it’s effects on society in depth. The Module 3 Artifact on “similarity attracts” or “opposites attract” shared a relation to the styles of love module. I remembered how I could somewhat relate to similarities attract and while responding to the inquiries, I was thinking of an individual in whom I shared a great deal of similar attributes in our personalities, which assisted me with addressing the inquiries and consider what sort of relationship I need, probably from shared interests compared to contrasts. Overall I truly enjoyed task five since I’m an individual who is able to detect the positive qualities in others and attempt to zero in on other qualities by observation or conversation. Lastly, showing preemptive kindness move me and I believe that it is significant. I accept that we are committed to play a role in this world to share kindness even if it’s a small deed or gesture.

I chose the photo above because I’ve learned that every aspect in life has an effect on character development and personality. This course has taught me that our experiences, thoughts and feelings within forms our thoughts, reactions and judgements all in all.

Subsequent to becoming familiar with sexual conflict, it is interesting to see or compare and contrast among men and women in day to day life. Based on the knowledge I’ve gained through my own observations and encounters, I can address the subject of how men upset women and vice versa. I feel that men upset women by not being mindful of what they say. They are straight forward which can prompt a woman to feel some type of way depending on their character honestly. Likewise, from what I’ve seen from other relationships, it is regular for men in a relationship that can influence women and not permit them to have a voice in the matter, due to their powerful urge for control. Men additionally don’t take the little things into consideration about the little subtleties in a choice or undertaking. Moreover, women can get irritated when a man expects she will deal with the home, kids, and food without assistance.
Presently there are some things that were mentioned that women do to men that bothers the men comparably. For instance, women are not satisfied in what they say, by this i mean they are usually calm about what’s on their mind most of the time but other times the frustration in which the situation may be in concern can build up serious anger causing a different outburst or reaction. This prompts a man to not comprehend what the woman needs, which is frustrating as well. Women care a lot about little subtleties instead of finishing an assignment rapidly and proficiently. Women all in all are or can be delicate in a great deal of circumstances, this varies from a man in light of the fact that their tendency is to be defensive. This can be irritating for a man in light of the fact that occasionally a lady can be too touchy about significant subjects of conversation in which the man would not want to touch on it.
Men and women clearly share many differences and similarities when it comes down to sexual conflict. That is the manner by which they were made. Naturally and psychologically there are various characteristics found in every sexual orientation that total who they are as an individual and those distinctions makes them viable.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to distinguish how your feeling, alter your reaction and read the feelings of others. A part of emotional intelligence is to comprehend why we feel the things we do. When we start to think about the reasons why we feel certain things and why others around us may be giving off a specific energy filled with emotions, we try to find a remedy or solution. Understanding what is behind a feeling eliminates the ability of effect from it, for instance when I come across a wave of emotions due to depression, I am now aware of where the emotions come from and at times I either process the situation fully in which it increases my emotions negatively or find an activity that takes my mind off of it temporarily at least. I’ve learned that keeping my emotions to myself rather than expressing my instability or thoughts to others has probably been the wrong route but is preferred as I have trouble with sharing specific aspects of my life. The technique for reflection and amendment is a type of self regulation. Self regulation and emotional intelligence appear to be interlaced; the more self regulation, the more emotional intelligence.

In the wake of watching Jean Kilbourne’s, Killing Us Softly III, it was truly an eye opener to how corrupt advertisements can be towards women. This video showed us how advertisements have the ability to brutalize and control women into purchasing their items. This video canvassed the distinctions in sex portrayal. By accentuating how advertisements use factors like a woman’s body, they transform her into something explicitly to focus on a man’s attractions to sell an item or convey an idea. I picked the visual above in light of the fact that within a show I had watched on Netflix, two ideas for an ad were presented but the more explicit version was chosen due to the fact that the individual, who was a male, believed that it would appeal more if the woman was nude while men had watched her walk across the bridge. Keep in mind that this ad was for a perfume product and the actions taken to construct this ad did not focus on that until the very last second.

In the first ad, done by a less valid source, Dawn dish cleanser is attempting to sell more containers by addressing their reliable factor. This promotion proposes to the watcher that dawn soap is delicate and viable to such an extent that it tends to be utilized to clean not only dishes but animals as well. I like the strategy of the promotion, in addition to the fact that it builds on reliability it proposes that individuals who purchase Dawn cleanser care about the climate. It makes an “in gathering” that individuals need to be separated of.

This ad utilizes appeal to sell an item. The model in the image has impeccable make up, however I realize that some aspects are enhanced for the product. Could this make up cover breakouts, staining, spots? Does it sink into scarce differences and make them more obvious? At the point when I search for things to improve my actual looks I might want to see somebody who appears to be like me having a good experience or review of the item. Something else that I believe merits referencing is that this ad is offering cosmetics to women, however the manner in which she is made up is obliged.

This advertisement addresses an alluring source since this specific skin health organization is utilizing a famous web-based media influencer for one of their items. Since she has an enormous following base, her advancement of this item will rouse her crowd to give it a shot and increment the organization’s deals. I think this style of advertising is powerful on the grounds that a considerable lot of her adherents will need to utilize items she prefers since they admire her. I’m actually liable of falling for an alluring source.

After taking exam 1, Im very happy with my results. In the wake of evaluating my score, I can say that taking the test went reasonably easily. When I take the time to study all the material and utilize the jeopardy within modules, it is useful. I trust that I have solid test taking abilities, however, the material doesn’t stick with me unless I go about it in a specific way. Finding the best note taking strategies for myself and being in a quiet area while going over everything I can expect to be on the exam from review sheets has become something that allows information to register in my brain more quickly and sufficiently. I also discovered that I still have obtained information from previous psychology courses I’ve taken in previous semesters so this is a benefit. With all being said, I think being able to review my mistakes encourages me to go over what I may not have a clear understanding of and being more than confident that I wont make the error again.

As mentioned above, I must have a good working environment that is simply quiet and I’m able to think. I inserted a photo of my own space that I tend to do all my school work.

I profoundly agree with the concept of “Soul Meets Body” since we discovered that sharing similar interests was a central point is what prompted fascination or attraction. I thought that it was fascinating that they said it was not simply the melodic inclination that prompted an attraction, however rather it was the values demonstrated by the melodic preference. Personally, I am not typically pulled in to individuals with comparative or intriguing music tastes simply because I don’t have a specific preference of music and listen to just about anything. In the event that they have a more varied music taste, I discover them to be a seriously intriguing individual, and along these lines need to become more acquainted with them better. This absence of connection might be on the grounds that I for one don’t have a specific music taste. I consider myself being someone who enjoys a song or music genre based on my feelings while listening so I’m open to anything.
List of songs:

1. “Tightrope” Paul Freeman.
This song simply brings me back to a time where I was at a low point in life but listening to this song takes me back and allows me to reflect on many situations.
2. “Good Days” SZA.
This song to me is very uplifting not only when I have too many thoughts in my mind but when my friend and I go on drives together and share our thoughts it’s a vibe.
3. “Don’t Believe The Hype” Polo G
This is a song that my friend and I connected with in a sense. I now associate this song with her because we both found a love for it together and found emphasis within most of the lyrics that relate to our lives.

School has always been mediocre for me, that is until I reached the point of my last two years of high school and proceeding into now being a college student at Old Dominion. I don’t imply that in a manner that proposes that I am not a person who challenges myself. Being a student athlete at the time it was difficult to create a balance. Occupied with something new each week including, papers, reflections, tests, and studying time has been a work overload in all honesty while having to travel for several sports events considering I was participating in more than one at the time. In school, I endeavor to comply with time constraints and turn in each and every task that is anticipated from me. On the off chance that something is evaluated and gotten back to me and my evaluation isn’t what I expected, I’m not afraid to use my resources and ask questions for a clear understanding of the material I may be learning. I make a decent attempt to not view lower grades as a proportion of my insight, however, I consider them to be something that makes me want to work harder. As a student, the main focus for me is maintaining a well rounded balance and taking the time to engage in my studies. I consider the setting as a place to learn and investigate thoughts under the direction of educators who devote themselves to growing the personalities and knowledge of their students.

After completing the GSE, the score calculated was 35 between the ranges of 10-40. The results indicate that I have a high self efficacy.

Subsequent to analyzing the syllabus, I’ve gained comprehension of what is to be expected for this course. To guarantee I succeed in this course, I proceeded to input the entirety of the deadlines or due dates for all assignments and exams throughout this semester. It can be difficult to stay on track when being enrolled in all online asynchronous courses but I think I’ve came up with the best strategies to prevent myself from disregarding my responsibilities for my courses. Ensuring I’m generally mindful of what assignments are to come, it keeps me spurred and from being distracted. Social Psychology appeared to be quite clear to me but nonetheless, there are definitely more aspects within this topic in order to create a clear understanding. With this being said, I’m looking forward to learning the depths of social psychology and hoping that becoming familiar with how individuals see others, how they interact with others, and how perspectives are framed, I will be able to acquire a more noteworthy appreciation for how social connections impact individuals. All in all, being a student in the field of psychology, I think studying the methods within social psychology will help me in the future when it comes down to determining one’s thoughts and feelings of other individuals or my patients in this case, and how it’s influenced through their social interactions.

In chapter 2 we discuss heuristics and social cognition. A heuristic is a psychological process in which individuals come across issues and make decisions rapidly and proficiently. This approach abbreviates dynamic time and allows individuals to think without continually halting to consider their next strategy. Social cognition is our own particular manner of collecting data and having the option to recover it from our memory. The image above is a representation of how I visualize my mind processing mental shortcuts before making judgements and collecting data within my surroundings of others.
