Journal Summary 1
My writing at this point has really increased so far. I feel really well about my writing growth simply because it will determine whether I move on to a higher section of English. I also feel happy about my growth because writing is a skill that you must have as a nurse. Without writing are we truly skilled humans? My writing has truly improved because I now use different structures of writing then I used before. I still struggle with the garbled sentences, certain punctuation, and using wrong words in certain ways. I also struggle with a shift in person and unclear pronoun preferences. I also struggle with just getting all my thoughts down on the paper , and not going back to look at what I wrote to see if it makes sense. I struggle with thinking certain words should fit in a sentence but really not understanding that it actually doesn’t. I also struggle with creating run-on sentences at times when my mind is thinking faster than my fingers. The concepts of reading your own work, and note taking were the best lessons throughout the class. Also the lessons of placing certain subordinating conjunctions where they go. Always use a semicolon when you actually know how to use it. Just so you can avoid grammatical errors. The peer review and writing review sessions has definitely improved my writing because I learned from my mistakes and I am taught to take criticism well. Doing the peer reviews it definitely teaches me how to not only check another persons work , but to also do the same thing to mine before I turn it in. It has taught me to slow down on my writing , and to always go over my paper to see if it make sense to me. This class has truly helped me a lot with my writing ,and it has put me one step closer to becoming a great neonatal nurse.
