Multiple Reasons—To me, this motive makes the most sense because
cybercriminals often hack for multiple reasons. Cybercriminals may hack
primarily for money, but they might also seek recognition or fame within the
hacker community.
2. For money—money is what makes the world spin, so it’s obvious why many
cybercriminals hack for monetary gain.
3. Recognition—Bragging rights are a big part of the hacker community. This
community’s ego is fed by being the only one to pull off a hack.
4. Political motivations have always been a driving force behind criminal activities.
Cybercriminals can commit crimes for political reasons without their identity being
exposed, so it makes sense why this is a motive.
5. Revenge—This is possible. Say someone gets fired from a job and they
feel it isn’t just; they could hack into the company servers out of revenge.
6. Entertainment—I ranked this at 6 because I can’t see many hackers hacking just
for the fun of it. They usually stand to gain something for all the risk that goes into
it.
7. Boredom—This is along the same lines as entertainment. While it’s possible, it
just doesn’t make much sense to hack out of boredom.

Review the articles linked with each individual motive.
