The assessment I will do is a informal assessment because it does not add pressure onto the students and is more laid back.
I will be assessing the students’ knowledge of the vocabulary for the Health Unit. This will be done after the introduction of these vocabulary words.
The game is a space race on the website Socrative. The students will be broken up into teams. In this game the students will be asked to give the word of a definition given. For example, I will give them the definition “activity requiring physical effort carried out to sustain or improve health and fitness”. They will all have to answer with the correct answer of “exercise” for their rocket to move forward in the line. They will be racing against each other to win the “race”. We will do this game a few times in order to allow multiple opportunities for different teams to win and to have repetition of the information. There will be multiple questions in order to move their spaceships forward and getting one incorrect will set them back to the beginning. Each time we play the game the questions will be shuffled.
This game will automatically track the students answers so I will be able to go back to determine who may still be struggling with the vocabulary and with the repetition I will be able to see if the student is learning as they go and remembering the definitions.
