The Occupations that were highlighted where the ones that were similar in responses. Those that were not highlighted differed in response. There were jobs that differed for us when we answered i.e when it came to schoolteacher, chef and architect. I didn’t find a pattern, some jobs that are considered a “male” job were labeled as female when we heard the word and vise versa. I chose a partner that was opposite in sex than me and one that was younger, I wasn’t as surprised as I thought I’d be, The newer the generation is, I feel like they have a different take when it comes to stereotypes and try not to impose them.
REFLECTION:
While doing this assignment I learned that there is stereotypes that unconsciously I may have had; whether it was from my culture, or my generation. My culture does influence how was see some jobs having a stigmatism around them. Having chosen a partner that was 6 years younger from a different culture was eye opening.
