Blog 10: Reflection
Initial Course Expectations v Outcome: Beginning this course I was excited to learn about other courses and being able to get rid of biases I had due to my own culture. I have been able to not only learn about other cultures but have been able to grasp an understanding on how ones norms and roles have a great influence on how one behaves the way that they do.
Cross-Cultural Psychology & What I Would Do Differently: I came into this course with an open mind and ready to learn more about other cultures other than my own. I am still open minded and am really excited to apply what I learned and continue to learn in my life. If I was able to redo the whole experience I would have probably worked a bit at a faster paste. I did not procrastinate as much as I thought I would; all things considered (COVID and having never before taken online classes), I would probably also have double checked due dates and test dates.
Academic Growth & Application: Although I missed an exam; due to not having reminders set, I have grown academically. I have learned to not leave things to the last possible minute and have been able to utilize what I have learned in my work life. The information I have learned throughout the course has helped me apply the knowledge that I may perceive something as unusual to me but I must be able to take into account someones background. This was something I hoped to achieve at the beginning of the semester. I now feel confident that I could use this information to build on further learning for my future career.
