Artifact 4: Culture and Development

Take a moment to reflect on the most significant experience in your childhood which helped you form your present “self.” Illustrate that experience by drawing a picture on a large size paper. After you finish drawing, think about whether your individual and/or cultural values are reflected in your picture.

When my little brother was brought home from the hospital It was one of the happiest days of my life, with his birth along with having an older brother I had no clue what responsibilities I would later have being the only girl in a household of boys. I was given the role of a second caregiver to both my brothers, I can see that in the picture i drew and now in my present life. Women in my culture are seen as caregivers and who take care of the household.

REFLECTION:

My culture assigned me a list of values ever since I was born, It was up to me whether i fulfilled those values or not. Culture influences a person greatly and in the photo I can see that a few values I have are family, as s care giver and as someone who also receives the care I value the basic values my culture has.
