Blog 9: What’ve I learned So Far

The reason why I chose this image was because I think that it shows that people are intertwined whether it is within a culture or from another culture. Culture is also something that creates a place of belonging. Resource: https://sloanreview.mit.edu/article/the-benefits-of-framing-culture-as-a-management-system/

Throughout this course I have learned a lot when it comes down to Cross-Cultural Psychology. The Top 3 things I’ve learned in this class is: Culture, Self, and Identity, Culture and Emotion, and Culture and Personality. In Assignment 4, gender roles were discussed, and how different countries and regions have different gender roles for each person of that gender. This is connected with how ones personality or self and identity could be due to gender roles in their country. I was able to apply my own personal life throughout this course and how I have been able to be flexible in partaking other cultures who’s norms may be different than my own. Cross-Cultural Psychology relates to other interdisciplinary studies in psychology such as in my adolescent psychology class. There are gender roles and expectation that adolescents have that have changed throughout the years due to technological advancements. How personality is shaped due to their culture is also taught in the curriculum.
