The four pictures above depict my family; We’re very close to each other, we can always depend on one another when there is something that we need help on. They have been there for every mile stone in my life.

Why College ?

From a young age I’ve always known that I would go to college. My parents have always pushed for my siblings and I to pursuit higher learning; especially my mom. I have a vivid memory of my mom telling my older brother and I what we would be; Doctor, Dentist or Lawyer. There was no other choice but to pursue such prestigious careers. My mother’s determination and faith in us going to college became a reality.

I have always had a great set of friends growing up. Pictured in the bottom left is my best friend of 12 years. I met her in church; My mother has always tried to raise us in a spiritual household, because of this I met someone who has a similar set of values as me.

Life Values, Career Paths, and Experiences:

Life Values and Career Paths: A few Life values that important to me is: Knowledge, A sense of Community, Honesty, and Kindness. Psychology as a whole has always been interesting to me, I believe that these life values as well as others will help me with my career. As a Naval Psychologist I will be working with both the Navy and the Marines. There is a high percentage of depression reported in the military and mental health unfortunately has a bad stigma around it. I think the four life values I listed are necessary when working in this career.

Experiences: When I was in high school, my school offered courses to get your certification as a Surgical Tech, or as a CNA (Certified Nursing Aide) throughout the school year. When I graduated high school, I also had my certification as a Nurse Aide. I have always challenged myself to try new things and if failure occurs, at least I tried. I started community college right after i graduated high school, and had credits due to taking dual enrollment classes. I enjoy learning and meeting new people.
