Emily Junkin, M.S.

Emily is a fifth-year student in the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology. She attended Auburn University, where she received her B.A. in Psychology in 2018, and obtained her Master’s in Psychology while at ODU. Her research focuses on diagnostic criteria related to impaired control over alcohol use, and she is currently testing an experimental paradigm of impaired control involving alcohol administration. Douglas Glenn, M.S.

Douglas is a fifth-year graduate student in the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Auburn University in 2018 and obtained his Master’s in Psychology while at ODU. His research interests involve using experimental designs to study the factors that impact individuals who drink as a way to cope with negative emotions. Contact: dglen002@odu.edu

Karolina Kazlauskaite, M.S.

Karolina is a third-year in the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology. She graduated from the College of Charleston in 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. Her research interests focus largely on social and peer influences on drinking in college students.

Alicia Moulder, B.S.

Alicia is a second-year student in the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology. She graduated from Old Dominion University in 2022 with a B.S. in Psychology. Broadly, her research interests include sexual minority alcohol use disparities and other maladaptive coping behaviors exhibited by LGBTQ+ populations.

ashley-2016-bw-2Ashley Linden-Carmichael, Ph.D.

Ashley Linden-Carmichael graduated from the Applied Experimental Psychology PhD program in August 2016.  Ashley is primarily interested in identifying influential and underlying psychosocial predictors and consequences of substance use patterns among young adults.  Ashley is currently a Research Assistant Professor in The Methodology Center and the Department of Biobehavioral Health at the Pennsylvania State University.

Brynn Sheehan, Ph.D.

Brynn graduated from the Applied Experimental Psychology PhD program in August 2016.  She is a research assistant professor at EVMS/Sentara Hospital. She completed her undergraduate work at Bloomsburg University and received her Masters in Justice from the University of New Hampshire in 2011. Her primary research interests include alcohol-related aggression, social dominance, and risky alcohol and health behaviors.

Amy Stamates, Ph.D.

Amy graduated from the Applied Experimental PhD program in summer 2019.  Her research interests include: (1) understanding impulsivity as predictor and consequence of alcohol use; (2) exploring patterns of risk associated with drinking and other health behaviors; and (3) identifying subgroups (e.g., nonstudents; bisexual women) of emerging adults at most risk for alcohol-related harms. Amy is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Rhode Island.

Peter Preonas, Ph.D.

Peter graduated from the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology in 2020.  He graduated from the University of Michigan in 2011 with BA degrees in Psychology and Political Science. Peter completed his internship at the Hines VA in Chicago, IL. His primary research interests center around how mood, personality, and contextual factors relate to alcohol use, prevention, and treatment.

Cat Turner, M.S.

Cat graduated from the experiment psychology MS program in August 2019. Her current research interests are in alcohol and sexual health behaviors. She hopes to pursue her PhD in Applied Psychology to work towards a career in conducting research to support public health programs, policy, and education.

Michael Young, M.S.

Michael graduated with his Master’s in Psychology in Spring 2021. His research interests are in mood disorders and alcohol use among college students. He hopes to pursue a career in Clinical Psychology to work with young adults.
