There are far from few strategies to keep cyber networks safe. Firewalls are a common and effective way to keep your network secure and keeping unwanted infiltrators out. Engineers do a lot for cyber networks; for instance a good way to keep something secure is using an encryption where they will change the data in a way that even if someone is able to intercept the data as its being sent they wont be able to understand it. If they wanted to find out what the data is they would need a key that’s used to decrypt the message. Engineers have to constantly be learning and adapting with technology and getting trained regularly. Criminal justice and cybercrime overlap in a lot of different ways. If any form of cybercrime is committed it can fall under criminal justice. Departments from criminal justice exist for this exact reason that specialize in cracking down on cybercrime. The criminal justice department also plays a role in developing regulations and laws around cybercrime. They help determine what is allowed and what is not when dealing with computer crime. This ties into what we have done in class because the disciplines and regulations that we have talked about what the criminal justice looks at. The criminal justice department mainly looks at how we should respond to crimes and the punishments associated with said crimes. They also look at how to prevent these cybercrimes. Another department that overlaps with cybercrime and criminal justice is criminology. Criminology covers basically what criminal justice doesn’t. They look at patterns of these crimes and who commits them. This really shows how the different departments of crime that we have looked at overlap each other and work together well to try to prevent cybercrime. There is also the ethics perspective where they look into what data people should be allowed private or not.
