My name is Brookley Beamer and I was born and raised in the village of Renick, Missouri until high school when my military family was moved around the world to places such as Greensborough, North Carolina; Okinawa, Japan; and NorthPole, Alaska. After Alaska we were deployed to Virginia, were I applied and was accepted into Old Dominion University.
I began my college career following a nursing degree, however after my freshmen year, taking a microbiology lab class, and discovering a new passion, I switched my major to medical lab sciences with a minor in theater.
My current goals moving into my sophomore year are to continue to make grades keeping me in the top ranks of my classes, continue working and saving to move out into a new apartment of my own, without the current situation of roommates, and to discover internships that allow me to become familiar with the world of clinical labs and to help the transition after graduation.
My long-term goals are to graduate and work in a clinical lab setting, perhaps right inside a hospital. I’ve always been a very by-the-book leaner and worker, allowing me to climb the ranks in both my education and work career quickly, earning Valedictorian in high school and earning promotions in work quickly after only a couple of months of employment. I’m excited to follow the new opportunities that these next few years will bring me!
