Reflection
The writing assignments that were given in this class have challenged me to dig deeper in research, be more creative, and pay attention to detail. I still have more to learn and improve upon, but this class has, in my opinion, made me a better writer. I learned how to write a professional email with the research proposal assignment. Since I am going to be a teacher, and will need to send emails to my colleagues and administrators, this skill is needed. The problem paper made my research skills better. I learned strategies to create good research questions, as well as, synthesize citations. The creative nonfiction piece improved my attention to detail. It also changed my perspective of writing. I often thought of writing as a chore and unenjoyable until I wrote that piece. Writing the creative nonfiction piece showed me that writing is what you make it. If the writing enjoyable to you, then it is likely to be enjoyable to others. This class also gave me opportunities to edit the work of my peers. I think that editing is essential to being a good writer because you not only are helping someone improve their writing, but the process will help to improve yours as well.
Writing is essential in my future profession. I will remember all of the skills that I have learned throughout my years of writing and use them in my future works. I will also always be looking to improve my skills and be knowledgeable of the changes that may come. I am extremely excited to start my career as a teacher and use the skills that I have learned in this class and teach them to my future students.
