There are six principles of science. Relativism, objectivity, parsimony, skepticism, ethical neutrality, and determinism. Each of these plays a role in cybersecurity. Relativism helps us understand that everything is related to one another. For example, how technology influences behavior and that behavior can lead to crime. Objectivity plays a role in how we look at our research and make sure we are being objective and not letting our opinions take over what is actually going on. Parsimony plays a massive role in cybersecurity, in my opinion, because sometimes things are seen to be way too wordy. Parsimony helps everything stay simple. Empiricism helps ensure that the research we are trying to do is valid and in line with everything. So only studying behavior that is real to the senses. Ethical Neutrality should be something that everyone has to follow in doing research. It is ethical to make sure that we are protecting the individuals we study. Lastly, determinism relates to cybersecurity because it will give us a little bit of reasoning why people are committing crimes, not letting them off the hook but trying to figure out what led to it.
