Journal #4

Based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, I would not need technology for my physiological needs. Physiological needs are things that we need for our body to function literally, which is food, water, rest, and warmth. I do need technology for safety needs. I would not be able to go out in public without my phone because, nowadays, people are crazy, and being able to text or call someone when I feel unsafe is a necessity. I use my phone every day to talk to my boyfriend, family, and friends. For me, that is a very important basic and psychological need. I can’t go a day without talking to them. As far as esteem needs, I don’t find that really necessary for myself. I don’t find a feeling of belonging through social media. I feel like, in a way, I am connected to people and in the loop. When I do post some of my achievements online, it is nice to see how proud everyone is of me. It can be both very positive and negative. Technology most definitely gives me self-fulfillment. I want to be in the cybersecurity field as my job when I am older and it is all based on technology, so that is a must.
