After reading through the violations that people do unknowingly online, one of the five most serious violations is sharing passwords, addresses, or photos of others. To me, I think that this one can be really tricky. There are a lot of times where people will ask others for someones address so they can give them a ride. With photos also, there can be a group photo, and someone wants you to send it to them, but it’s technically illegal because there are other people in there. I think this one is really serious, though, because some people have malicious intentions and want to put others in danger, such as hacking into their accounts and giving away addresses. Pornographic photos also get sent around a lot which is totally not okay and is violating someone’s body.
Bullying and trolling are other violations that are really serious. Something I think everyone knows when they are doing it. Bullying can cause people to take their own lives. I am so against bullying and have never been okay with it. I think you should have to go to jail if you are caught bullying.
Faking identity online is another violation that is really serious to me. The term people use now is “catfish”. I have seen people who pretend to be someone else they are not and try to meet up with that person face to face, and they end up getting killed, or some really disturbing things happen. Nothing positive can come out of this, and it can only really affect someone else’s life negatively.
Collecting information about children is another violation that really rubs me the wrong way and is really serious. It can lead to people fantasizing about children in a way that they shouldn’t be and can lead to the childs life being put in danger and even possibly being kidnapped. Children don’t really know that some things they do get put on the internet, so people looking for them are taking advantage of them.
Lastly, recording a VoIP call without consent is really serious because there could be things that someone says that is really private and confidential, and recording breaks all of that. People can also edit the call to where they can make it seem like someone said something that they didn’t say. People can also use the recorded call as blackmail and make the other person do things that they wouldn’t want to do or shouldn’t do.
