1. The definition of cybersecurity is ” the application of technologies, processes and controls to protect systems, networks, programs, devices, and data from cyber attacks”(Cybersecurity). My major is cybersecurity so it goes hand-in-hand with cybersecurity technology. Without technology there is no internet or cyber anything.
  2. One of the majors that ODU offers is computer science. Computer science is the study of computers and their systems. It relates to cybersecurity because you have to know about computers and their systems in order to understand how to protect those systems. Another major they offer that relates to cybersecurity is cyber operations. Cyber operations “encompasses the entire scope of cyberspace and related operations..” (Cyber operations). Cybersecurity is apart of the cyberspace it is also apart of the “related operations” part of the cyber operations definition. A third major Old Dominion University offers that relates to cybersecurity is cybercrime. Cybercrime is “preparing students for occupations in law enforcement and information technology” (Cybercrime). Cybersecurity is all about trying to protect and prevent crime and cybercrime is about learning about crimes done on the internet. A fourth major that relates to cybersecurity that Old Dominion University offers is Cybersecurity risk management. According to the Old Dominion University website, the major of cybersecurity risk management is when “review and analyze the concepts and interrelationships underlying cybersecurity compliance methodologies” (Cybersecurity risk management). Majority of the cyber security risk management program is studying underlying cybersecurity compliance methodologies.
