For every good thing in the world there is a bad and that is no different with technology. Technology has brought many great advances to the world especially when it comes to how business are run and how their information is stored. Unfortunately nothing is every 100% safe so there are some issues with storing people’s personal information electronically. One ethical issue that arises is that some companies sell people’s information to other companies for money. This has been an ethical issues for many years because people don’t like that their personal information is being sold. They think that companies are doing it behind their back, but most of the time they are legally putting this in the terms and conditions that people never like to read. Companies like Facebook and Google are very known cyber giants that sell and track people’s information. Another ethical issue is that if companies are hacked all the personal information that was collected from companies is all in the hands of the hackers. What hackers do with the information they steal is all in their hands. It is very scary not knowing what hackers can and will do with this information. A third issue is that someone working for a company might have ill intentions and steal the personal information of the people involved. It is hard to know who gets your information when you input it into a website, so if it is put in the wrong hands it can be sold to different companies and you wouldn’t know until something serious happened. A fourth ethical issue is piracy. Everyone knows about piracy of movies and music, but most don’t know it goes deeper than that. It it kind of like copywriting and it can really do serious damage to small companies. The U.S is a first world company that has several resources and a huge military. There is a lot of information that we have on different people and different countries that many people would like to steal. If you compare this to a country like Rwanda there is a lot less they have to steal information wise than we have. America has a lot of important info about a lot of things, while Rwanda might have some important stuff it is nowhere near as important and plentiful as the stuff America has.
