Cybersecurity is still a fairly new topic for most people, and it is constantly changing, so if you aren’t really studying it, you get most of your knowledge about it from consuming media. Most of the cybersecurity aspects that you see in movies or TV shows are usually hacking. They make it seem that with a lot of fast typing and quick thinking you can hack even the toughest computers in a matter of minutes and because this is usually the only act of cybersecurity that most people see they believe that it is that simple and easy.

Media is where most people get their information about cybersecurity, so they think that it’s a lot easier than it exactly is. There are a lot of different moving parts to cybersecurity, and the media rarely shows the whole thing. I think that the media has a large part to do with how we view cybersecurity. They make it seem like it is so fast-paced and can be easily done in no time to keep the watcher interested and keep the plot going.
