The SCADA System and its role

BLUF

The Scada system is one of the things that are used for critical infrastructure in a cyber context. All processed data is given to an operator and is given thoughts on why and how it affects the data is what it is.  It can have security issues that involve the thought process that goes into SCADA and what they are like being a system outside of the internet.  SCADA and what it does is a very great thing that helps to at least protect data for these places.

What is SCADA and how does it help?

A SCADA system is one that can be seen as HMI or in other words Human Machine Interface, what that boils down to is the idea of it being a physical thing that is manned but one individual (Daneels A).  It refers to central systems across the entire site and is used to track the physical activities going on in the different plants it is set in.  Its main use is for things like critical infrastructure and is meant to be a safe way to use these things (SCADA Systems). 

What are the flaws of SCADA?

SCADA Has many flaws these flaws can equate to the unauthorized access to software that is seen in the system and the packet access to the network that we see from many places of all over the software (SCADA Systems) .  All over the place you can see that there is barley any type of little to know security when it comes to these systems and what they represent for the SCADA system (SCADA Systems).  Some say that VPNS can be a solution to some of these by that is ignoring the physical aspect of the SCADA system and how it has the ability to bypass any security that is there to help it (SCADA Systems). The physical aspect is what brings it down (SCADA Systems).

Conclusion

The Scada system is one of the things that are used for critical infrastructure in a cyber context. All processed data is given to an operator and is given thoughts on why and how it affects the data is what it is.  It can have security issues that involve the thought process that goes into SCADA and what they are like being a system outside of the internet.  SCADA and what it does is a very great thing that helps to at least protect data for these places.  We can see that although the SCADA System works, we must try to fix the vulnerabilities that it emits.
